While we want to know God better, many of us find this difficult in the case of Deuteronomy. The book can seem like a collection of random material, from ancient travel itineraries to ancient laws, none of which appears terribly helpful for life today. As we shall see, though, the book is far from random or antiquated, for it has been crafted for the very purpose of helping each new generation encounter the living God of Scripture.
